Design-Build Roofing Contractor | Vail Valley & Roaring Fork Valley
A Roofing Partner That Builds the Roof You Drew, Not the One That’s Easier to Install
We work with architecture and design firms in Aspen, Snowmass, Vail, and Beaver Creek. We build roofs that carry the most design weight. These include standing seam, copper, and natural or synthetic slate. We also handle complex roof geometry. This helps your custom home match the way you drew it. A rendering doesn’t survive an unauthorized substitution. We don’t make them.

WHY THE ROOF IS WHERE DESIGN INTENT GOES TO DIE
Your Drawings Don’t Build Themselves. Neither Does Your Reputation.
A roof is one of the largest, most visible surfaces on any custom home, and it’s usually the last place anyone checks the work against the drawings before the crew moves off the site. You’ve likely felt some version of this:
None of this gets easier at 7,000 to 9,000-plus feet. Snow load drives pitch and retention decisions before the first sheet of metal goes down. Ice-and-water shield placement isn’t optional at this elevation. Wildfire code in Eagle and Pitkin County restricts material choice on a growing share of projects. Freeze-thaw cycling and UV exposure shorten the life of anything specified for sea-level conditions. A roofer who doesn’t understand how these constraints interact with the design isn’t executing your vision. He’s negotiating it down without telling you.
THE UMBRELLA ROOFING DIFFERENCE
We’re Not Bidding to Install a Roof. We’re Bidding to Protect the One You Designed
Built exactly as drawn
If we propose a change to a specified material, profile, or detail, you hear about it before we act on it, not after. Your drawings are the standard we build to, not a starting point we negotiate away from once we’re on the roof.
Early collaboration, not a late-stage scramble
We prefer to review roof shape, material choices, and constructability during schematic design. This helps avoid conflicts after the construction documents are final. Samples and mockups happen before drawings are final, not after a client asks why the roof doesn’t look like the rendering.
Fluent in the hard stuff
Standing seam panels, copper flashing and custom fabrication, natural and synthetic slate, and multi-plane roofs. These roofs have more valleys and transitions than most crews can handle. This is the work most roofing companies avoid bidding. It’s most of what we do.
Submittal-ready
Shop drawings, manufacturer data sheets, and physical samples are ready when you need them. Use them for an ARC or HOA design review, or a client meeting. They are not assembled after the fact under deadline pressure.
Altitude-engineered without compromising the design
Snow retention and ice dam prevention should be designed into the roofline from the start. You or engineers should detail these items during design. They should be sized to the roof shape and local ground snow load. They should not be bolted on later as a visible fix after a homeowner complains
SERVICES FOR ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN FIRMS
What Are Our Most Requested Services?
These are the services architecture and design firms across the valley bring us in for most.
For Architecture Firms Designing Custom and Spec Homes
Your client is paying for a specific look, and the roof is one of the largest surfaces where that promise gets kept or broken. We protect design intent from the drawing to the final walkthrough. We come prepared for ARC and HOA submittal requirements, so you are not solving them alone.
For Design-Build Firms and Building Designers
You’re matching the roof with the exterior colors and the interior finishes. You’re also working with a client who’s watching the whole build, not just the roof. We give you one point of accountability for the roofing scope. This way, any material decision made in your office stays the same in the field.

FAQs: About Working with Umbrella Roofing for Your Design-Build Projects
Q: Do you work directly with architects during design, before construction documents are finalized?
A: Yes. We prefer to review the roof shape and material choices during the design phase. This helps us avoid constructability issues after the drawings are finalized.
Q: Can you match a specified standing seam profile, color, or patina exactly?
A: In most cases, yes. We will confirm availability based on your specification early. We will provide a sample before installation. This ensures what you approve is what gets built.
Q: Do you provide samples or mockups for client and ARC or HOA presentations?
A: Yes. Physical samples and section mockups are part of our standard process for any project. This applies when a finish, pattern, or profile is specified.
Q: How do you handle it if a specified material isn’t available?
A: You get a call and a proposed alternative before we proceed. We don’t substitute quietly and let you find out on a site visit.
Q: Do you provide shop drawings or a submittal package?
A: Yes. Shop drawings, manufacturer data sheets, and samples are part of the project file. They are available whenever you need them.
Q: Can you execute complex, multi-plane roof geometry without cutting corners on the design?
A: Yes. Multiple pitches, dormers, valleys, and chimney clusters are the work we’re built for, not the work we try to simplify to save time.
Q: Do you work with design-build firms as well as independent architecture firms?
A: Yes. We work with both, and we adapt our process to however your firm is structured, whether that’s a single point of contact or a team split across design and construction.
