Why Avon-Edwards Roofs Are Different
Avon and Edwards sit between 7,226 and 7,430 feet in Eagle County, along the main corridor into Beaver Creek. That elevation changes what a roof must do here. It shapes almost everything about how Umbrella Roofing handles a project in this market.
Add to this:
Every roof Umbrella builds or repairs in Avon and Edwards is quoted with the snow load threshold in mind. From the first estimate, we also consider ice dam risk from rapid freeze-thaw cycles at this elevation. Where it applies, we include wildfire-rated materials in the quote. Nothing gets added after the fact or discovered mid-permit.

Avon & Edwards Roofing Company Services
Roofing Built for the Mountains
These are the four services that matter most once you’re living above 7,000 feet. Replacement, repair, snow retention, or ice dam prevention, every one of them is installed for this elevation from the start, not adapted to it after the fact.
Roof Replacement
When a roof reaches the end of its life at 7,000-plus feet, you don’t want it under a tarp heading into ski season. We plan replacements around real mountain weather windows, so the project wraps before the first big storm rolls off the Gore Range and you’re back to chasing first tracks at Vail instead of tracking a leak.
Snow Retention
A smooth metal roof without engineered snow guards will dump its load all at once, right onto a driveway, a walkway, or whoever’s loading up the car for a hike along the Eagle River. We size every snow retention system to the roof’s pitch and panel type, so the snow lets go on your terms, not gravity’s.
Ice Dam Prevention
The same freeze-thaw cycle that makes for great spring skiing is what builds ice dams at your eaves all winter. We treat the cause, attic sealing, insulation, ventilation, ice-and-water shield underlayment, and heat cable as the last line of defense, not just the symptom everyone else chips off with a hammer.
SPECIALISTS IN MODERN ROOFING
Who We Serve
Whether you own the property, manage it, or built it, Avon and Edwards Colorado trust us to understand exactly what your roof needs to do.
Residential Contractor & Builder Roofing
Avon and Edwards are two of the fastest-growing markets in the valley, and a missed roofing deadline is a missed closing date. We work directly with home and commercial residential builders on new builds and major renovations in both towns. We install roofs and roofing systems to match your design and engineered specifications. We do it right from the first nail. So your schedule does not bend around ours.
Commercial Contractor & Builder Roofing
Avon and Edwards sit on the commercial gateway into Beaver Creek, and the roofing has to hold up to that traffic. We build and maintain roofs for developers, GCs, and builders on mixed-use and commercial projects in both towns. Our roofs are installed to meet Eagle County snow load requirements and your designed and engineered specs. We also install low-slope membrane systems common on newer construction along this corridor.
Partner with us on your next commercial project.
HOA Roofing
From condos near the Beaver Creek gateway to larger communities up the valley, we support HOA boards. We also support condo associaltions. We provide one point of contact and clear documentation your board and insurer can use. Our crew understands what a compliant roof repair or replacement looks like in Eagle County. Nothing falls through the cracks between reserve studies.
Property Management Roofing
With Avon and Edwards’ growing rental and second-home base near Beaver Creek, property managers need one roofing partner across every unit on the list, not a different roofer for every building. We give you documented inspections, fast emergency response, and a crew that plans around guest turnover and owner stays instead of working around them.

Architects and Designers
Avon and Edwards’ fast-growing new-construction base means there’s more design intent riding on getting the roofline right the first time. From material selection through construction administration, we execute the detailing your design calls for on projects across both towns, without value-engineering it into something else once we’re on-site.

Vail Valley Service Areas
We keep busy installing state-of-the-art roofing systems, gutters and architectural sheet metal fabrications for some of the most discerning residential and commercial clients in the Roaring Fork Valley and the Vail Valley and all of the beautiful communities in between including Edwards, Avon, Eagle, and Gypsum Colorado.

FAQs About Your Roof in Avon or Edwards
Q: Why do ice dams keep coming back on my roof every winter?
A: Ice dams form when heat escaping into the attic melts snow on the upper roof, and that meltwater refreezes into a ridge of ice at the colder eave. Chipping the ice off treats the symptom. The real fix, in order, is attic air sealing, adequate insulation, proper ventilation, ice-and-water shield underlayment at eaves and valleys, and heat cable as the last line of defense. Umbrella addresses all five, not just the heat cable.
Q: Does my new roof need an engineer’s stamp before Eagle County will permit it?
A: In Eagle County, ground snow loads set by the local building department often run well above the standard regional maps. Once the site-specific ground snow load exceeds the IRC prescriptive limit, typically 70 psf, which is common across much of Avon and Edwards at this elevation, the county requires engineered structural drawings stamped by a Colorado-licensed engineer. Umbrella can tell you where your property falls before you’re surprised by it mid-permit.
Q: Do I need a Class A roof under Colorado’s new wildfire code?
A: Colorado’s statewide Wildland-Urban Interface code took effect July 1, 2025, and applies when a structure is new, an addition exceeds 500 square feet, or a roof replacement covers more than 25% of the total roof area in a designated WUI zone. Requirements typically include Class A roofing materials, ember-resistant vents, and non-combustible gutters. Umbrella can confirm whether your specific parcel in Avon or Edwards falls in a WUI zone and what that means for your project.
Q: Does a newly built home in Avon or Edwards still need engineered snow retention?
A: Yes. New construction doesn’t get a pass on snow load or ice dam risk just because the roof is new. A lot of newer builds in Avon and Edwards go up with metal roofing for the look, and a smooth metal roof without engineered snow guards can dump snow and ice onto a driveway, walkway, or parked car all at once. We size snow retention to the roof’s pitch, panel type, and Eagle County’s ground snow load requirement as part of the original build, not as a retrofit after the first bad slide.
